Remigration: 1953 Germany/FRGIn April 1934, the academic Theodor W. Adorno went to Oxford where he enrolled officially as a student. However, he had to leave the UK regularly because he had no permanent visa. In 1938 he emigrated to the USA where he worked e.g. at the Institute for Social Research, and together with Max Horkheimer on the "Dialectic of Enlightenment". From 1949 he travelled again to Germany for professional reasons.
